400m Hurdles Women: Smooth Spencer beats Williams with world lead

A smooth running Kaliese Spencer picked up where she left off in 2014 with yet another Diamond League one-lap hurdles win, the Jamaican beating half a dozen Americans with a world leading time of 54.71. The woman who dominated this event last year, dominated her first race of the year from lane four as she past the field down the back straight and entered the home stretch two metres up on Tiffany Williams. The world and Olympic finalist was a comfortable second in 55.27 followed by Cassandra Tate in 55.68, both season’s bests, while 2011 world champion Lashinda Demus was fifth behind Georganne Moline in her best of 2014 so far, 56.14.
